Joey Folsom, Principal

Welcome to Butterfield Trail Elementary! Our school is celebrating our 50th birthday this year!!!! Butterfield has a rich and proud heritage, dating back to 1968 when it opened its doors as the first open space school in Arkansas. We maintained the open space (school without walls) environment for over 40 years, moving to a more traditional setting in 2008 when a new construction/renovation project was completed. We are very proud of our beautiful building which features a gorgeous foyer, lots of windows and natural light throughout the building and a student/parent/community maintained garden that is unbelievably beautiful and bountiful! Our gymnasium, which is detached from the main building, is a beautiful facility that serves both our students and many outside recreational groups as well. We were recently recognized for our LEED certification because of the many environmentally friendly features of our building.
Currently we serve approximately 540 students in grades PreK-4. We have 24 PreK-4 regular classroom teachers, as well as a support staff that includes art, music, PE, library, special education, nurse, ESL, and technology; as well as a certified literacy interventionist and PreK, Kindergarten, Special Education and Title I paraprofessionals. Because we are a Title I school, we receive federal funds which are utilized primarily for instructional aides to support students at each grade level. This year we received $25,041.24 from the Arkansas School Recognition and Awards Program based on our students’ performance and growth on state tests. Our combined total of monetary awards from this program over the past 4 years has been over $200,000. We are very proud of our academic and extracurricular programs that we offer our students. Our PTO sponsored Bronco Academy offers a variety of after school clubs and activities throughout the year to meet the many and varied interests of our students.
You are welcome any time! We would love to have you drop by for a visit and/or tour!
